Collage is a great medium for working small and working at home! This class will be both an art history and an art-making class. Each week we will start class by learning about a collage artist past or present with lots of slides and fun stories. We will talk about how they approached collage making and their own approaches to color and construction. I will give prompts and ideas for how to make your own collage piece inspired by this weeks' collage artist. Students can work work any materials they have at hand but will benefit from having scissors, glue, paper or a sketchbook, and some colorful paper to work with. We will make quick collage studies and share our work with the group. This class will be a great jump start to other creative pursuits and a lifelong collage making habit. Materials: ANY paper you have! Some examples: junk mail, recyclables, catalogs, etc. If you also have scissors and glue, you're all set.
